About

'Textures of Everyday Life' is an exhibition that highlights Lee Sunhyun's delicate observational skills and unique expression methods. The artist captures trivial moments of daily life, seasonal changes, and subtle shifts in the surrounding environment on canvas. This exhibition consists of works based on drawings that record fragments of travels, events, and everyday life from autumn 2023 to summer 2024.

Artist Statement

Lee Sunhyun's work is characterized by lyrical expressions of her inner world through everyday materials. Ordinary elements around her—brushes in the studio, paint, objects inside and outside the home, nature, and disappearing alleys of the city—take on special meaning through the artist's fingertips.

The new works presented in this exhibition express transparent glimpses of memory and distant emotions through glazing and layering techniques. Through these methods, they fully reveal the colorful and mysterious textures of everyday life, offering viewers a new visual experience.

"이번 전시는 2023년 가을부터 2024년 여름까지 있었던 여행, 사건, 일상 파편들을 기록한 드로잉들을 토대로 한 작업들입니다. 올려다보고 내려다본 하늘과 대기의 인상, 식물의 표정, 투명한 기억, 사람들과 부대끼며 겪어내는 소소한 삶의 단면들을 연필, 펜, 과슈, 아크릴과 오일, 오일 크레용 등을 이용하여 선과 면으로 착실하게 담아냈습니다."
